London: Day 4

We woke up early and made our way to the Waterloo Train Station to ride out to Windsor. The who hour-long train ride was very cloudy and rainy. But, as soon as we arrived in Windsor...the weather cleared up and we had a beautiful, sunny day of touring Windsor Castle!

I had expected the castle to be surrounded by English country-side, but in fact, it is surrounded by the cutest little town! It was about a 5 minute walk from the train station to the castle. From the outside, it did not look as grand as I had expected, but once we got inside it was enormous and GORGEOUS! By far, our favorite part of the trip!

And you will never believe this......

WE SAW THE QUEEN!!!!!!!!

I kid you not, we were inside Windor Castle touring the State Apartments and I happened to look out a window and saw a caravan of cars driving into the courtyard of the castle. Low and behold, The Queen got out of the car (by the way, she was driving!) and made her way into the castle! She was wearing a cute, plum-colored dress with a matching pill box hat! Oh, and I would have taken a picture, but cameras weren't allowed inside the castle.

After our tour, we ate lunch at Two Brewers Pub. We ran into 3 ladies from Indiana who said they saw The Queen outside and were able to get a picture. They offered to email us the picture, so hopefully that happens and I will share it with all of you fellow, loyal bloggers!!

Two Brewers Pub was super cute, but the food...not my favorite. Mom and I decided to try "Bangers and Mash" and were not impressed! Its pork sausage links that were rather, shall I say, slimey?? Pretty gross! But, the mash and peas with rosemary gravy were mm mm good! And, of course, the beer was good, too.

After Windsor, we caught the train back to London and decided that while we were out, we'd do some shopping! First, we went to Harrod's...don't worry Dad, we didn't buy anything.....

Then we walked around Knightsbridge in and out of different stores and had then had dinner out Gloucester Arms Pub!

That's all for day 4...check back for pics!
